The valuation of IP / intangible assets requires a certain skill set to construct the interface between qualitative data and quantitative output. The allocation of value to a particular intangible asset is not always that easy. However, our approach enables us to quickly come from complex input data to clear and justifiable results. First we start with applying a holistic view in order to fully grasp the setting in which the intangible asset resides. Next step is to identify the ‘DNA-structure’ of the company to be able to understand and justify how the value of the intangible asset fits into the whole picture. This approach ensures that we stay objective as much as possible towards the valuation target. Sometimes valuators tend to allocate too much value to the intangible asset they feel most acquainted with. By applying the holistic approach first we avoid this kind of bias. Through our experience we know how to recognize the hidden value of patents, brands, copyrights, trade secrets and intangibles like goodwill and know-how.

Our partner, Steven van Wijk, is a RICS (Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors) Registered Valuer specialized in IP / intangibles valuations. We comply with stringent ethical standards assuring the highest quality level. Since 2003 we have conducted hundreds of valuations for multinationals, corporates and large family owned businesses in a confidential and secure manner. Due to our reputation we are often asked to appear in court cases as expert witness.
